Time Tracking Guide - One-Click Timer & Manual Entries
Master Zeity's intuitive time tracking with one-click start, stop, and next task controls. Learn manual time entries and best practices.
Track time with the timer
The built-in timer is the fastest way to track time in real-time.
Start the timer
- Click the Timer button in the navigation
- Select a project from the dropdown
- Add a description (optional)
- Click Start
The timer continues running even if you close the browser tab!
Stop the timer
- Click Stop when you're done
- The time entry is automatically created
- Edit the entry if needed
Next task button
- Click Next Task to stop the current timer and start a new one
- Select a different project if needed
- Add a description (optional)
Add manual time entries
Create time entries after the fact.
Add an entry with start/end times
- Navigate to Timer
- Click Add Entry
- Select project
- Enter start time (e.g., "9:00 AM")
- Enter end time (e.g., "11:30 AM")
- Add description (optional)
Edit existing entries
Fix mistakes or add details to time entries.
Edit an entry
- Navigate to Timer
- Click on the entry you want to edit
- Modify any field
Delete time entries
Remove incorrect or duplicate entries.
Delete a single entry
- Click on the time entry
- Click Delete button
Deleted time entries cannot be recovered!
Best Practices
🎯 Be Specific
Add detailed notes to make entries more useful:

✓ "Sprint planning meeting with dev team"
⏰ Track Immediately
For accurate tracking:
- Start timer when beginning work
- Stop timer when taking breaks
- Add entries promptly if using manual mode
📝 Review Daily
- Check entries at end of day
- Fix any errors or missing notes
- Ensure all work is tracked
🎨 Use Projects Wisely
- Create projects for different clients
- Use projects to separate billable/non-billable time
- Close completed projects
Advanced Features
Running timer indicator
A visual indicator shows when a timer is running:
- Badge on Timer button
- Time updates in real-time
Multiple timers
Only one timer can run at a time. Starting a new timer automatically stops the previous one.
Timer persistence
Timers persist across:
- Browser refreshes
- Tab closures
